Privacy Policy
Effective August 29, 2026
Family App ("the app") is operated by Lopatin Enterprises, Inc., a Texas corporation ("Lopatin Enterprises," "we," "us"), which is the controller of the personal data described below. This policy explains what information the app collects, how we use it, and the choices you have. We built Family App to help your household share a calendar, budget, groceries, and each other's location — so most of the data here is content you and your family choose to add, plus your location if you turn it on.
Information we collect
Account information
Your first name, email address, and a password (which we store only as a salted hash, never in plain text). We use this to create and secure your account.
Household content
The information you add to the app: calendar events, budget transactions, grocery items, your household's name, and who is a member of your household. This content is shared with the other members of your household — that is the purpose of the app.
Location
If you turn on location sharing, the app collects your device's precise location — in the foreground and, so your family can see where each other is, in the background — to show your position on your household's shared map. It also keeps a recent history of your locations (a "trail," retained for 30 days) and detects arrivals at and departures from the Places you set up (retained for 90 days). Your location is shared only with the members of your household. You can turn location off at any time in your device's Settings; doing so stops both sharing and background collection.
Subscription information
If you subscribe to Premium, the purchase is processed by Apple and managed through our payments partner, RevenueCat. We receive your subscription status (active / not active) but never your card or payment details.
Basic technical data
Standard server logs (such as request times and error information) used to operate and secure the service. We do not use third-party advertising or tracking SDKs.
How we use your information
- To provide the app and sync your household's shared calendar, budget, and groceries.
- If you enable location, to show household members on a shared map and notify the household when someone arrives at or leaves a Place.
- To authenticate you and keep your account secure.
- To process and recognize your Premium subscription.
- To diagnose problems and keep the service running.
How your information is shared
- With your household. Content you add is visible to the other members of your household, along with your name as the person who added it. If you enable location, your location and location history are shared with your household members as well.
- With service providers. We use a small number of providers to run the app — hosting/infrastructure and RevenueCat for subscription management — who process data only on our behalf.
- We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it for advertising.
- We may disclose information if required by law.
Data retention & deletion
We keep your information while your account is active. You can permanently delete your account and its data at any time from Settings → Delete account inside the app. Deleting your account removes your profile, sessions, and the content you created. Shared household content may remain visible to other members of a household you were part of.
Data storage & security
All data is stored in PostgreSQL on servers located in the United States. Data is encrypted in transit (HTTPS), and passwords are stored only as salted hashes. We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your information, but no method of transmission or storage is 100% secure.
Your rights
Depending on your jurisdiction, you may have rights to access, correct, port, or delete your personal data. You can delete your account and its data directly in the app (Settings → Delete account), or email us at [email protected] and we will respond within 30 days. If you are in the European Economic Area, you have rights under the GDPR, including the right to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority.
Children
Family App is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. We will indicate the effective date at the top of this page. Your continued use of the app after changes take effect constitutes acceptance.
